5 Things To Do Today To Avoid Heart Problems Tomorrow

1.Regular Exercise:Daily workout helps in releasing serotonin, dopamine in the body and allow better blood flow in the vessel round your heart. Anything between 30-40 mins is good for your heart.

2.Quit Smoking: Quitting smoking reduce your CAD risk.

3.Shut off the electronics: It’s easy to conk off while texting your friends or watching your favourite show. But that means waking up in the middle of the night to switch off all the devices and finally sleeping in peace. Not only does this disturb your sleep but also hampers your performance the following day. It is recommends switching off all blue light-emitting devices at least one hour before you hit the sack. Shutting off all electronic devices such as your phone and laptop a little while before you sleep will help you maintain good sleep hygiene and ultimately, benefit your overall health.

4.Follow a low carb diet: “Indians have a very carb-heavy diet,” It is suggesting that as far as possible, people should aim to follow a diet that’s moderate in protein, low in carbs and high in fats. There are several studies out there that show the harmful effects of following a heavy carb diet on cardiovascular health. 

5.Consider a drink a day: There's a growing consensus that light to moderate alcohol consumption--that is, two drinks or less a day for a man, one drink for a woman (a drink is defined as 12 oz.of beer, 4 oz. of wine, or 1.5 oz. of 80-proof spirits) can help prevent heart attacks. However, drinking more than that can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke, as well as cirrhosis, cancer, and accidents.

6.Maintain a healthy weight:  Obesity also increases the risk for diabetes, hypertension, and high blood cholesterol, which further worsen the risk for CAD.
